A Berrien County business has stepped forward to cover unpaid school lunch bills for families and students in Bridgman. Bridgman Public Schools Superintendent Shane Peters tells WSJM News Mead & White Electrical Contractors has paid $587.96 to cover school lunches that could not be paid during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company had reached out to the school to ask how it could help.

“I send Mead and White some ideas for what they could do, and one was to offset some of the lunch account expenses for our families, and so that was one of the things that they graciously accepted to do is to pay off the balances for all of the students in our district,” Peters said.

The donation will cover unpaid lunches from about 100 students. Employees at Mead & White also helped remove the senior winter athletic banners. Peters says one of the great things about living in Bridgman and Berrien County is the way people come forward to help in a crisis.
