A 53-year-old St. Joseph woman is facing federal charges of wire fraud and filing a false tax return. The U.S. Attorney’s office is accusing Kris Fratzke of setting up a shell company called Mid America Fittings and used it to send invoices to her employer in Kalamazoo, Flare Fittings, from 2013 until last year. Prosecutors say Fratzke issued checks totaling over $540,000 to her fake company through her job as Flare Fittings’ chief financial officer. If found guilty, she faces up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud and three years for the false tax return charge. No court date has been set.
