$540,000 in federal housing dollars have been announced for southwest Michigan. Congressman Fred Upton tells WSJM News the money from the CARES Act Supplemental Public Housing Operating program will be divided between nine public housing agencies around the region.

“Obviously, there is a need for this, and we’re able to see our taxpayer dollars return to fulfill needs here in southwest Michigan,” Upton said.

Housing commissions get the funds to better protect residents through the COVID-19 pandemic and for rental assistance.
