Michigan COVID-19 Cases Spike; Third Straight Day Of Increases In New Positive Tests

After being under 1,000 for about a week, Michigan’s number of new COVID-19 cases has jumped by 1,325 to 35,291. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the number of deaths has risen by 164 to 2,977, but adds there are 55 deaths being reported that had previously not been linked to COVID-19. Locally, Berrien County is up to 189 cases with 11 deaths, Cass County is at 23 cases with two deaths, and Van Buren County has 35 cases with two deaths. Berrien’s total is up by 12, Cass is unchanged, and Van Buren County’s number is down by one from Tuesday. The Berrien County Health Department says 113 people in the county have recovered.
