The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department is thanking a local woman who made reusable protective masks for its employees. Sheriff Dan Abbott says Susan Hayes-Stender is a seamstress and local business owner who made the masks to help staff prevent the spread of COVID-19. The sheriff says they will be distributed to ensure personnel are safe and able to continue their service to the citizens of Van Buren County as the pandemic continues.
