10,791 COVID-19 Cases In Michigan, With 417 Deaths

There are now 10,791 COVID-19 cases in the state, with a total of 417 deaths. The increase from Wednesday to Thursday, however, was not as high in the number of new cases as the day before. There are 1,457 new cases Thursday compared to 1,719 on Wednesday. Governor Gretchen Whitmer is urging people to stay home and stay healthy.

“No one is immune from this virus,” Whitmer said Thursday. “People of all ages and all walks of life are testing positive across our state every single day.”

In southwest Michigan, Allegan and Cass counties have no new cases reported today. Berrien County’s number is up by two to 40, Kalamazoo County has four new cases, rising to 34, St. Joseph County is up by three to eight, and Van Buren County’s cases are up by two to 12, with that county recording its first death. The youngest in the state to die from coronavirus was 20, and the oldest was 107.
