A winter storm watch has been issued for southwest Michigan. National Weather Service forecaster Chris Morris tells WSJM News it takes effect Tuesday evening and will continue through Wednesday night. He says we could be looking at six to eight inches of snow.

“Initially, rain is going to be transitioning into snow as we go through the overnight hours on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning,” Morris said. “Then snow will be persisting throughout the day on Wednesday and continuing into late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning before tapering off.”

However, Morris says the front coming out of Oklahoma could shift before arriving, and so the snowfall estimate is preliminary. He says the system could come with winds of around 15 to 20 miles per hour, which is enough to affect visibility. Everyone’s reminded to be prepared and to pay attention to the latest forecast.
