Congressman Fred Upton will vote no when the impeachment vote is taken by the U.S. House. He tells WSJM News he doesn’t expect his vote to change the result, though.

“Of course, Speaker Pelosi has a sizable majority and so she has the votes to prevail on this that’ll send the two articles of impeachment, which are expected to pass in the House, to the Senate,” Upton said.

Upton says the Senate trial will be next year, and it’s easy to predict the Senate will not remove President Trump from office.

“It does require a two thirds vote, and from the start, no one has thought that it’ll be anywhere close to a two thirds vote. Frankly, there are probably some Democrats in the Senate that are likely to vote no.”

In a statement issued last week, Upton said “The President’s behavior was wrongheaded, inappropriate, and ill-advised, but was it impeachable? My answer is no.” He also says the abuse of power article against President Trump is not a removable offense, telling us he voted against a similar charge in the Bill Clinton impeachment back in 1998. He did, however, vote in favor of the other articles against Clinton.
