A demonstration was held outside of a St. Joseph office of Congressman Fred Upton on Tuesday as the House vote on impeaching President Trump loomed. Berrien County Democratic Party Chair Amy Scrima told us they were there to send a message to Upton that he should vote for the impeachment.

“The House has made it abundantly clear that the current president has committed high crimes, and we want him to be held accountable,” Scrima said. “No one is above the law, so we’re out here fighting for justice, we’re out here fighting for our democracy, and clearly the current president does not care about those things.”

Around 50 people could be seen at the demonstration as of about 5:30. Many of the protesters held signs that read, “Retire Upton.”
