The most wonderful time of the year, as the song goes, can also be deadly on the roads. To that end, police statewide will kick off their holiday “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign” on Wednesday. It will run through January 1 with extra patrols looking for drunk and distracted drivers in 24 counties, including Berrien. Governor Whitmer has proclaimed December as Impaired Driving Prevention Month in Michigan, and police say one person was killed on nationwide every 50 seconds by a drunk driver last year. The enforcement is paid for by federal traffic safety funds provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
