Here’s your chance to buy a piece of Michigan state land as the Department of Natural Resources holds its annual winter auction. Almost 150 parcels of land, including some in southwest Michigan, will be up for auction starting tomorrow. The Department is offering some parcels that are less than an acre in size. Michael Michalek is a Resource Specialist for the DNR he says the largest parcel is 160 acres.

“It’s a forested parcel that’s just north of the city of Alpena. It’s landlocked, so it’s got a little bit of struggles trying to get sold, but it has several adjacent landowners, and we’re hoping one of them will come through,” says Michalek.

Land is available in counties including Allegan, Cheboygan, Mackinac, Muskegon, and Van Buren. Visit Michigan.gov/LandForSale for auction information including minimum bid prices and property descriptions.
