An Edwardsburg couple is facing several charges including child abuse after a high-speed chase near Three Rivers with their kids in the car. The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office says officers tried to pull over their vehicle for having a burned out headlight Friday night on US 131 north of Three Rivers. The driver took off, with speeds topping 100 miles an hour southbound through Fabius Township and the city of Three Rivers. The driver crashed into a ditch after stop sticks were used, but not until after getting away from officers. Police were later called to a home by residents who said the 24-year-old man and 25-year-old woman showed up with two kids, wet, and asking for help after going through a swamp. No names have yet been released. Other charges pending including fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing police.
