Coming soon to a television near you will be a documentary on a radio giant of southwest Michigan. Legends of Michiana: Pat Moody will air on WNIT public television out of South Bend starting next Thursday. The one hour documentary focuses on Moody’s 46 year radio career in the region. He tells WSJM News he was honored to get word there was going to be a documentary about him.

“When they first told me that they wanted to do it, I thought, ‘Wow. Seriously?’ Because they’ve done all sorts of huge philanthropic dignitaries around the northern Indiana region and so forth.”

Moody says the plans for the documentary have been in the works since before he stepped down from WSJM’s Moody in the Morning this year.

“They actually came here while I was still on the air toward the end of my career on air at WSJM, and they came up and spent three hours interviewing me at the house. My sons came home and they interviewed them. They interviewed my wife. They interviewed 20 or 25 people.”

Moody says the documentary covers his life from his days in the military to his time at WSJM to his work with the local chamber of commerce and for public television. Legends of Michiana: Pat Moody will air Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. on WNIT. It will air again on September 29 at 6 p.m. and October 7 at 10 p.m. Moody himself got an early screening at the Shadowland Ballroom in St. Joseph Thursday night, and says the WNIT team did a fantastic job.
