Fall enrollment for the Bridge Academy in Benton Harbor is now open. Interim director Allie Knapp says enrollment will be open through October 2 as they serve non-traditional students between the ages of 16 and 19, and adults over the age of 20, with the first day of class set for Tuesday, September 3.

“We have students that are only removed a couple of years from their schooling, and we have students who come decades after they last attended a traditional school,” Knapp says.

The school is run by Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren in a partnership with Berrien Springs Public Schools.

“We know there are quite a few people out there who haven’t been able to complete their high school diploma or their GED,” says Knapp. “And we know that’s holding them back in the workforce. So we help them to earn their diploma or GED and then also align them with a meaningful career path and provide them with training through our Michigan Works! center.”

Bridge Academy also offers high-demand vocational training for certified nurse assistants, pre-apprentice construction training, and retail workers. More information is online at miworks.org.
