Red Sox 6, Tigers 3 – Price, Vazquez, Bogaerts lead Red Sox over Tigers for sweep
David Price pitched one-run ball over five innings, Christian Vazquez and Xander Bogaerts each drove in two runs, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 6-3 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. Boston has won four straight and 15 of 22 entering the All-Star break. Price struck out six, walked two and allowed four hits. He’s allowed 15 earned runs over his past 10 starts, going 6-0. Detroit played the final eight innings without designated hitter Miguel Cabrera, who was ejected for arguing a called third strike. The Tigers lost for the 14th time in 16 games, falling to 6-25 since June 1. The first two games of the series finished after midnight because of lengthy rain delays, but the series finale was played under bright sunshine. Heath Hembree, the fifth Boston pitcher, pitched the ninth for his second career save. Tigers opener Gregory Soto (0-3) took the loss. He gave up two runs and three hits in two innings, raising his ERA to 8.14.
White Sox 3, Cubs 1 – Nova gets home win as White Sox beat Cubs 3-1
Iván Nova pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning for his first home win in eight tries, Eloy Jiménez and José Abreu homered, and the Chicago White Sox beat the crosstown Cubs 3-1 to salvage a two-game split Sunday. Nova (4-7) finally picked up a victory at Guaranteed Rate Field after going 0-4 with an 8.31 ERA in his first seven starts there. The right-hander allowed five hits over 5 2/3 innings, struck out four and walked one. Jiménez hit a long, two-run drive to center against Kyle Hendricks in the fourth. Abreu had three hits, including a solo shot against Brad Brach in the fifth that made it 3-0. Yoán Moncada extended his career-high hitting streak to 13 games with a single. Alex Colomé worked the ninth for his 20th save in 21 chances. Hendricks (7-7) lost his third straight start after going 6-0 in his previous eight to match the longest winning streak of his career. The right-hander gave up two runs and four hits in four innings and threw 86 pitches in his second outing after missing about two weeks because of inflammation in his right shoulder.

USA 2, NED 0 – United takes fourth WWC title
The United States has won its record fourth Women’s World Cup title and second in a row. Goals by Megan Rapino and Rose Lavelle carried the Americans to a 2-0 win over the Netherlands in Sunday’s final at Lyon, France. The game was scoreless until Rapinoe converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute, eight minutes before Lavelle doubled the lead. Rapinoe’s tally came after a video review showed that Alex Morgan had been fouled with a kick to the shoulder in the penalty area.

MEX 1, USA 0 – Mexico beats US to win Gold Cup
The U.S. men’s soccer team fell short in its bid to win a major tournament. Jonathan Dos Santos scored in the 73rd minute to lead Mexico to a 1-0 win over the United States and its record eighth title in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Despite missing their top three forwards, El Tri dominated possession against an American team playing its first tournament under new coach Gregg Berhalter. Cristian Roldan had a chance to tie the score in the 87th minute, but his point-blank shot hit Hector Moreno on the head and bounced away.

Sky 78, Wings 66 – Lavender, Copper help Sky pull away, beat Wings 78-66
Jantel Lavender had a season-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, Kahleah Copper scored a season-high 16 points, and the Chicago Sky pulled away late on Sunday night for a 78-66 win over the Dallas Wings. Diamond DeShields added 10 points and Courtney Vandersloot finished with seven points and 11 assists for Chicago. The Sky (7-7) snapped a five-game losing streak. Theresa Plaisance hit a 3-pointer to give the Wings (4-9) a 66-63 lead with 3:59 to play but DeShields answered with a 3 and Copper made 1 of 2 free throws to make it 67-66 with three minutes left. Lavender scored six points and Stefanie Dolson added five from there to cap the scoring. The Wings went 0 for 6 from the field with two turnovers over the final three-plus minutes. Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 22 points but shot just 7 of 21 from the field, including 0 for 5 in the fourth quarter when the Wings were outscored 26-12.

NASCAR – Haley gets 1st Cup win
NASCAR driver Justin Haley has earned a victory in just his third career Cup start. Haley won the rain-postponed, rain-shortened race at Daytona, inheriting the lead after a 17-car accident decimated the field and before a lightning strike forced NASCAR to stop the race. Clint Bowyer hit Austin Dillon from behind near the start of the third stage, creating the multi-car wreck and allowing Haley to sail past.
Golf – PGA – Wolff gets initial PGA win
Matthew Wolff is celebrating his first PGA victory just six weeks after capturing the NCAA title. Wolff made a 26-foot putt from the fringe for an eagle on the final hole to win the 3M Open at 21 under par, beating Collin Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke. The 20-year-old Wolff struck his second shot on the 573-yard, par-5 hole from the fairway to the far left of the green where it landed just a few feet away from a bunker. He sank the dramatic putt minutes before watching Morikawa just miss his eagle attempt from 22 feet.
Golf – LPGA – Feng rallies for first win in 19 months
Shanshan Feng hit a 7-iron to 3 feet for a birdie on the final hole Sunday to close with a 9-under 63 and a one-shot victory over Ariya Jutanugarn (ahr-EE’-uh juh-TAN’-uh-garn) in the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Feng won for the first time since November 2017. Jutanugarn had a three-shot lead on the back nine until a bogey on the par-5 15th.
Cycling – Teunissen keeps yellow jersey after team time trial
Dutch rider Mike Teunissen has kept the Tour de France yellow jersey after his Jumbo-Visma squad won the team time trial. Jumbo-Visma riders covered the 17.1-mile stage in 28 minutes, 58 seconds. That was 20 seconds faster than defending champion Geraint Thomas’ Ineos outfit. Teunissen, the first Dutch rider to wear the race leader’s jersey in 30 years, was a surprise winner of Saturday’s opening leg that was marred by a crash near the finish. After two days in Belgium, the peloton will enter France during Monday’s Stage 3 which leads riders from the Belgian town of Binche to Epernay in the Champagne region.
