Benton Harbor Area Schools CEO Robert Herrera is one of two finalists now in the running for the position of superintendent at Farmington Public Schools in the Detroit area. Herrera is currently running Benton Harbor Area Schools, but is likely to revert to a traditional superintendent role there when the district’s cooperative agreement with the state ends on June 30. He told Farmington school trustees during his interview Wednesday he’s concerned the district in Benton Harbor will lose additional supports from the state when the cooperative agreement ends. He told us this week he’s decided to look for employment elsewhere due to uncertainty related to the end of that cooperative agreement. The other finalist is the superintendent of the Redford Union School District. Herrera will be interviewed in Farmington again on Wednesday, May 29. Farmington’s superintendent is retiring in June.
