Astros 11, Tigers 4 – Astros rout Tigers 11-4, extend winning streak to 7
Carlos Correa started another Houston onslaught with a three-run homer in the first inning, and the Astros routed the Detroit Tigers 11-4 on Tuesday night, extending their winning streak to seven games. Wade Miley won his third straight start. This was the fourth time this season Houston has scored at least 10 runs in a game he pitched.  The Astros, who have won 10 of 11, scored in each of the first six innings against a depleted Detroit pitching staff. George Springer hit an inside-the-park homer in the fifth, and Aledmys Diaz went deep in the third for Houston. Miley (4-2) allowed four runs in six innings for the Astros. Houston led 7-0 after its half of the third.  Ronny Rodriguez homered for Detroit, but the Tigers are up against it this week. Not only are they facing the team with baseball’s best record, but they also have a rotation beset by injuries. Tyson Ross and Jordan Zimmermann are on the injured list, and Michael Fulmer and Matt Moore are out for the season.

Indians 9, White Sox 0 – Luplow hits 2 of Indians’ 5 HRs in 9-0 romp over White Sox
Jordan Luplow hit two of Cleveland’s five homers, Carlos Carrasco cruised through seven innings and the Indians pounded the Chicago White Sox 9-0 on Tuesday.  Roberto Pérez, Jake Bauers and José Ramirez also went deep as the light-hitting Indians muscled up against Manny Bañuelos and Josh Osich to end Chicago’s three-game winning streak.  Cleveland entered hitting just .219, tied with Toronto for worst in the American League. The Indians also came in with only 36 home runs in 40 games, second lowest in the league and fourth lowest in the majors.  The 25-year-old Luplow has hit all four of his homers this season against Chicago and three off Bañuelos. His previous two drives against the White Sox left-hander came in a rain-shortened 5-0 win in Cleveland last Thursday. Luplow hit six home runs in brief looks the past two years with Pittsburgh.

Cubs 3, Reds 1 – Hendricks has 2-run 2B, pitches into 9th; Cubs top Reds 3-1
Kyle Hendricks had three hits, including a two-run double, and pitched into the ninth inning to lead the surging Chicago Cubs over the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 Tuesday night.  The Cubs are 10-2 in May, their best start to the month since 1977. Chicago has won 22 of 28 games for the NL’s best record at 25-14.  Hendricks (3-4) has found his stride in May, winning all three starts while allowing only one earned run. He gave up a pair of singles and Joey Votto’s homer in the fourth inning, but those were Cincinnati’s only hits. He left after walking Nick Senzel to open the ninth. Steve Cishek got the last two outs for his third save in four chances. Hendricks started his May surge with an 81-pitch, 4-0 complete game win over St. Louis and followed it by allowing one unearned run in eight innings of a win over Miami.

NBA – New Orleans wins NBA draft lottery, right to pick No. 1
New Orleans has bucked the odds and won the NBA draft lottery, and now will have the first chance at choosing Zion Williamson next month. The Pelicans won the lottery for the first time since 2012, when they chose Anthony Davis. And the lottery win comes after a season when Davis wanted a trade _ something that might not seem so appealing to him now, not with Williamson likely coming to New Orleans. Memphis will choose second, New York third and the Los Angeles Lakers will pick fourth.  Williamson says he has never been to New Orleans. That might soon change.  The Bulls will choose 7th, Detroit will choose 15th.

NCAA – NCAA to consider allowing athletes to profit from names
The NCAA is forming a working group to consider how its rules can be modified to allow college athletes to be compensated for their names, images and likenesses. NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors announced Tuesday that Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman will head the new federal and state legislation working group.  NCAA rules forbid athletes in most circumstances from receiving benefits or compensation for their names, images and likenesses from a school or outside source. For example, college athletes cannot take part in commercial advertising or sign autographs for money.  The NCAA’s rules have been challenged in federal antitrust lawsuits. Recently, legislation was introduced in Congress aimed at lifting restrictions that keep athletes from profiting from their fame while they are in school.

Indy500 – Practice opens for Indy 500
Will Power and Simon Pagenaud both topped 229 mph on opening day of Indianapolis 500 practice. The Team Penske duo both posted laps faster than the 229.618-mph lap that won Ed Carpenter the pole last year. Opening day was uneventful beyond a late spin by rookie Colton Herta for the only caution of the session not related to debris.
