A 42-year-old Dowagiac man is in the Cass County Jail after being arrested for allegedly breaking into a shed and stealing a motorcycle. Police say James File admitted he stole the bike and other items with the intent of selling them to fund his “severe” meth addiction. The incident happened overnight between March 26 and March 27, with the homeowner noticing the break-in just before 7 a.m. Everything that was taken has been recovered. Police spent the next month investigating, and arrested File Tuesday morning on North Lowe Street in Dowagiac. He’s being held on a $30,000 bond and is also facing charges for not appearing to be sentenced on a pair of larceny from vehicles charges from last fall.
