Volunteers from Comcast will be taking part in a nationwide community service day this weekend. Saturday is the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day, and locally, Comcast spokesperson Greg Gomolka tells WSJM News they’ll be working at the Avenue Family Network in Benton Harbor.

“We’re doing some cleanup and some general maintenance there,” Gomolka said. “Our projects include cleaning the carpet. There’s a little pond in the back area that we’ll clean up. We’re painting some furniture for them.”

Gomolka says the Avenue is an organization that provides adult services for those dealing with memory loss, in-home services for seniors and the disabled, and services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Comcast is inviting volunteers from the public to come and help. You can register online. The more people who turn out, the more Comcast will donate to the Avenue later this year.
