A New Buffalo man is in the Berrien County Jail awaiting arraignment on terrorism charges. Benton Township police say the 38-year-old is accused of making a bomb threat against the Islamic Association of SouthWest Michigan Mosque in the 13-hundred block of East Napier. Officers were notified of the threat shortly before 2 p.m. Friday and evacuated the mosque. No bomb was found, and the building was declared safe. Worshipers were unaware of the threat when police arrived, but a leader told police of a potential suspect who had recently visited. He was found in the Fairplain Plaza, and admitted calling Berrien County Central Dispatch 9-1-1 to make the false bomb threat. His phone number also matched with dispatch records.
