Pirates 3, Tigers 2 – F/10 – Pirates top Tigers in 10 innings again, 3-2
Colin Moran hit an RBI single in the 10th inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Wednesday night.  The Pirates beat Detroit in 10 innings for a second straight night, and this was Pittsburgh’s sixth extra-inning game already this season. The Pirates are 4-2 in those. Spencer Turnbull allowed two hits in six innings for Detroit, but he was denied his first career in after reliever Joe Jiménez loaded the bases with nobody out in the eighth. Daniel Stumpf relieved Jiménez and gave up a tying sacrifice fly to Josh Bell.  Pittsburgh star Starling Marte was beaned by Jiménez during that eighth inning, but he remained in the game and hit a single in the 10th.  The game was played in rainy conditions, and Tigers left fielder Christin Stewart slipped and fell while catching Bell’s flyball in the eighth. Stewart stayed in for his plate appearance in the bottom of the inning, then left with a right medial quad spasm.

Royals 4, White Sox 3 – F/10 – Anderson spikes bat, gets drilled; Royals top Chisox in 10
Tim Anderson homered and sparked a benches-clearing incident before the Royals completed a 4-3, 10-inning win over the White Sox. Anderson spiked his bat to celebrate his two-run blast in the fourth, and Brad Keller responded by drilling him in the buttocks two innings later to start the fracas. Hunter Dozier led off the 10th with a tiebreaking homer against Nate Jones.

Cubs 6, Marlins 0 – Hamels pitches 7 innings, Cubs complete sweep with 6-0 win
Cole Hamels pitched seven strong innings and the Chicago Cubs completed a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins with a 6-0 win Wednesday night.  Hamels (3-0) allowed three hits and did not walk a batter. He struck out eight while throwing 65 of his 97 pitches for strikes.  Daniel Descalso had two hits and three RBIs, Javier Baez homered and knocked in two, and Jason Heyward also drove in a run for the Cubs, who have won five of six.  Baez went 8 for 13 with one double, two home runs, six runs scored, and four RBIs in the series.  Hamels retired 15 consecutive batters after allowing a lead-off single to Jorge Alfaro in the second.

Bucks 120, Pistons 99 – Bucks whip Pistons
The Milwaukee Bucks have put together another blowout win over the Detroit Pistons to take a 2-0 lead in the NBA first-round series.  Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH’-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON’-poh) scored 13 of his 26 points while the Bucks outscored the Pistons 35-17 in the third quarter of a 120-99 rout. Eric Bledsoe finished with a team-high 27 points and Khris Middleton had 24 for Milwaukee, which is trying to win a playoff series for the first time in 18 years. Detroit led by one heading into the second half before the Bucks took over. The Pistons pulled within seven in the fourth quarter, but Antetokounmpo hit a three-point play during a late run that put Milwaukee ahead, 105-87. The Bucks have won the first two games by an average of 28 points.  Luke Kennard had 19 points for Detroit, which will host Game 3 on Saturday.
