A Van Buren County state lawmaker is part of an effort to ensure e-cigarettes and other vaping products are kept out of the hands of minors in Michigan. State Representative Beth Griffin of Mattawan tells WSJM News vaping products are a legal gray area.

“Because the law is gray, it doesn’t say vape products or e-cigarettes, it’s a part of a law that does not clarify in black and white enough to be enforced, and this bill would solve that problem,” Griffin said.

Griffin says this makes it difficult for schools and parents to keep e-cigarettes out of the hands of young people. The bill would ban the sale of any device that allows minors to consume vaporized nicotine. Griffin says it got a hearing this past week, and she hopes for bi-partisan support as it moves to final passage.
