All Michigan state government offices, including the Legislature, will remain closed again Thursday. Governor Whitmer says shutting things down due to the weather isn’t an easy decision but felt it was important to do so early enough to keep people protected from the extreme cold.
“Moving swiftly has helped us mitigate what some of these problems could have been. Everyone is at the ready is what I’m hearing, coordinated and responding as people are calling in for help,” said Whitmer while getting a first-hand look at the state Emergency Management Operations Center on Wednesday.
The state started sending workers home early on Monday, and things will stay closed until 10 p.m. Thursday.
