79th District state Representative Pauline Wendzel has received her House committee assignments, and they’re relevant to southwest Michigan. She tells us she’s been picked to serve as vice chair of the House Commerce and Tourism Committee, along with the House Energy Committee.

“We have a lot of tourism, we have the nuclear power plant,” Wendzel said. “Energy is important to everybody in the state, really. So I’m excited about my committee assignments and what I can contribute to the state and to the district.”

Wendzel has also been named a member of the Agriculture Committee and Regulatory Reform Committee.

“Ag, that’s one I’m really looking forward to,” Wendzel said. “It’s something I’m passionate about, something I know a bit about. There’s always a bit more to learn. I think that will be a really fun and productive committee.”

Wendzel is from Coloma. This is her first term serving in the state House. She replaced former Representative Kim LaSata, who is now serving in the state Senate.
