A town hall meeting will be held in Benton Harbor this Thursday for residents to hear more about the ongoing effort to eliminate lead in the water. In October, the city announced lead levels exceeding the federal action level had been detected in some homes. City Manager Darwin Watson tells us everyone is welcome to this week’s meeting to find out what’s happened since.

“It’s just an update on where we are as it relates to the lead action in October, and we’ll talk about what has transpired since then and now, kind of update and on how we move forward,” Watson said.

Watson said he’ll speak, along with representatives from the state and the Berrien County Health Department. Watson said the city is working with residents of the affected homes to replace old water lines. Thursday’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. at Benton Harbor City Hall.
