Child & Family Services Of Southwestern Michigan Changes Name, Adds Service

A 127 year old Benton Harbor non-profit foster care service is at a crossroads filled with changes. Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan is changing its name and adding a sexual assault survivor’s service funded by a new grant. Executive Director Joseph Goepfrich.

“We will be changing fro Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan to the name The Avenue Family Network, Incorporated.”

Some of the names of provided services will also change. The new advocacy services for sexual assault survivors is named after Cora Lamping, a pioneer in foster care services.

“Our Helping Hands program will become Shoremark Homecare and Safe Shelter For Domestic Violence is being changed to the Cora Lamping Center For Survivors of Domestic Violence And Sexual Assault. We will be adding advocacy services for sexual assault survivors because we have now just received a grant to be able to expand those services.”

What is now The Avenue Family Network, Incorporated isn’t changing its core foster care mission or governance.
