This weekend brings the annual Hometown Christmas celebration in Watervliet. Chair Deah Muth tells WSJM News the fun kicks off Saturday afternoon.

“Saturday we are doing a cookie decorating contest at the Arclight from 3 to 5, then we have a chili cook-off with a tasting that begins at 6:30, and then we have Big Ben and the Burly Guys at the Arclight at 8 p.m.”

But that’s not all. Muth tells us the Hometown Christmas celebration this year will continue on Sunday.

“We’ve added some events and moved some events around on Saturday to see if we can expand this into a weekend event,” Muth said.

Sunday’s events include the snow prince and princess crowning, the lighted parade at 5:30, live reindeer, pictures with Santa, a dogs-dressed-as-reindeer contest, popcorn buckets for sale, and music. You can find out more at Watervliet.org.
