97-5 Y Country radio’s annual Stuff a Truck food drive is now underway at Rogers Foodland in St. Joseph. Y Country’s Matt Malone tells us the radio crew will be there through Saturday with a semi-truck, looking to fill it with non-perishable food and personal care items. The donations will go to the Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency, which makes sure they go to local families. Malone knows how these drives can help those who are really in need.

“I benefited from food pantries when I was growing up as a kid, and the impact that had had, as a child you don’t know what’s going on,” Malone said. “You don’t know that you’re food insecure, and when you finally look back as say ‘You know what? That’s what we were doing,’ it really gives you that sense of wanting to give back.”

Last year, Stuff a Truck collected 11 trucks full of items and $10,000. Malone says the goal this year is to stuff 12 trucks. The Y Country crew will be at Roger’s Foodland from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, and then from 9 to noon on Saturday. You can also donate online at 975YCountry.com.
