Bangor Apple Festival Saturday

Set for this Saturday is the 40th annual Bangor Apple Festival. Event co-chair Elizabeth Green tells WSJM News there will be a variety of events and activities around the downtown area from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. So, why apples?

“This is the heart of apple country,” Green said. “Bangor has two different designations. It’s designated nationally a Train City, USA. It’s also designated as Apple City.”

Everything kicks off with the car show, and there will be kids activities all day.

“We’re going to have a bounce house, pony rides and popcorn,” Green said. “We have our movie going on, we have bike show going on the same day, and two different stages showing live entertainment.”

That’s not to mention a book show, a craft show, a relay, and an apple pie bake-off. Playing the main stage will be Molly Pizza, and there will be plenty of apples to pick up. The day ends with a screening of Goonies at dusk. You can find the full schedule right here.
