A snow plow that drives itself? Michigan Department of Transportation Director Kirk Steudle told Michigan News Network this week the idea is not quite as far-fetched at you might think.
“You’d be surprised,” Steudle said. “We have them equipped with a whole bunch of sensors right now that provide us with operational information that helps us make better decisions about salt applications and wear and tear on trucks and distribution,”
Steudle says he can see a time where there will one snow plow traveling down the street, followed by several robotic plows. It won’t be next winter, but he says it could be in some of our lifetimes.
