In Berrien County and across America racism literally kills. Dr. David Ansell, Vice President Of Community Health at Rush University Medical Center, will speak on this shocking reality September 27th at Lake Michigan College’s Hanson Theater.

“A black person in Berrien County is 7 times more likely to live in a low life expectancy neighborhood than in the highest life expectancy neighborhoods. And a white person in Berrien County is 2 times as likely to live in a high life expectancy neighborhood than a low life expectancy neighborhood.”

Dr. David Ansell says this racial life expectancy gap in Berrien County is huge.

“In Berrien County that gap is about nineteen years between the lowest life expectancy neighborhood and the highest life expectancy neighborhood.”

And that, Dr. Ansell says, equates to worse health and shorter lives. September 27th he will deliver a speech – “Healing The Trauma Of Racism” – at Lake Michigan College’s Hanson Theater.
