It remains to be seen who is behind the microphone for the telecast of Friday’s Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park against the St. Louis Cardinals. TV broadcast partners Mario Impemba and Rod Allen reportedly got into a fistfight after Tuesday’s game in Chicago, and were sent back to Detroit on separate flights according to Sports Illustrated. They were replaced for Wednesday’s game by Matt Shepard and Kirk Gibson, who are the main substitutes for the broadcast team. The Tigers have not addressed the issue publicly, nor has Fox Sports Detroit. “The Athletic” reports there have been increasing tensions this season between Impemba and Allen, but there’s not been any word as to what sparked the physical confrontation at Guaranteed Rate Field.
