August car sales should be up about 1% over last year. LMC Automotive analyst Jeff Schuster says it was a pretty good retail month at dealerships and that offset flat fleet sales.
“It’s a generally positive month,” said Schuster, adding “I think certainly it’s an important month when you look at the Labor Day weekend coming up.”
One thing helping the August numbers is they are compared to a relatively weak month last year, which was impacted by the start of hurricane season.
