As the Carr wildfire rages on in California, firefighters from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are there to help and more are expected to go in the next couple of days.

“We have sent out an engine that is on the large Carr fire, they made it out there earlier this week,” said DNR fire prevention specialist Paul Rogers. “We have an additional resource on another fire in California, and we have quite a few resources up in the (Pacific) northwest.”

Rogers says they have about eight firefighters out west and a few other personnel. They’re hearing the Carr wildfire, which has killed at least six people and destroyed more than 1,000 homes, burns on with high winds and dry conditions. He says they’ll continue to send more firefighters to help as needed.
