Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Jim McCloughan of South Haven has another honor. He was named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow this week by the South Haven Rotary Club. That is given in appreciation for a person’s “tangible and significant efforts in furthering a better understanding and friendly relations among the people of the world” according to the Rotary Club. In addition, McCloughan was given an eagle-head veterans cane from the Michigan Woodcarvers Association, and South Haven Rotarians gave a $1,000 donation to Rotary International’s Rotary Foundation to continue efforts to eradicate polio around the world. McCloughan was awarded the Medal of Honor last year by President Trump for his actions during the Vietnam War as an Army medic.
