Michigan State Police say a Paw Paw man who reported being shot with an arrow back in March was lying. Troopers from the Paw Paw post were called out to investigate on March 25 when Michael Downey reported he’d been shot in the neck with an arrow while walking in the woods on a trail close to the eastern edge of Van Buren County. Troopers tell us after an extensive investigation involving the MSP Crime Lab and a K9, they determined the report was false. Downey later admitted he’d made the story up. Downey was arraigned Friday on a charge of false report of a felony. Michigan State Police say they will seek restitution for the cost of the investigation.
