MLB – Major League Baseball
Last Night
Seattle Mariners 3, Detroit Tigers 2 – 11 Innings
Chicago White Sox 3, Texas Rangers 0
Chicago Cubs 6, Cincinnati Reds 1

Mariners 3, Tigers 2 – F/11 – Mariners rally late, beat Tigers 3-2 in 11 on Segura’s hit
Mitch Haniger hit a tying two-run homer in the ninth inning and Jean Segura’s RBI single in the 11th gave the Seattle Mariners a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.  Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano took a no-hitter into the seventh but closer Shane Greene blew his third save of the season, giving up Haniger’s 11th home run on an 0-2 pitch with one out. Second baseman Dee Gordon led off the 11th with a single against Buck Farmer (0-3), stole second, then scored on Segura’s single down the right-field line. Nick Vincent (2-1) struck out two in his one inning for the win. Liriano attempted to become the first Tigers pitcher not named Justin Verlander to throw a no-hitter since 1984, but Haniger’s line drive single with one out in the seventh ended his run at history. The lefty already has one no-hitter to his belt, blanking the White Sox while walking six in a 1-0 win on May 3, 2011, as a member of the Minnesota Twins.

White Sox 3, Rangers 0 – Lopez goes 8 innings as White Sox blank Rangers 3-0
Reynaldo Lopez allowed only two hits in a career-high eight innings and the Chicago White Sox beat the Texas Rangers 3-0 on Sunday for their first home series win this season. Lopez (1-3) struck out eight and walked two in his first victory since Sept. 22 against Kansas City. The 24-year-old right-hander has been Chicago’s best starter this year, but has been hurt by poor run support. Leury Garcia had two hits and two RBIs, and Welington Castillo homered as the major league-worst White Sox (13-30) took three of four against last-place Texas. They won consecutive games for the first time since winning three in a row at Kansas City from April 26-28. Texas (18-30) lost for the sixth time in eight games.

Cubs 6, Reds 1 – Backed by HRs, Darvish beats Reds 6-1 for 1st win with Cubs
More than seven weeks into the season, Yu Darvish finally has his first win for the Chicago Cubs.  Darvish recovered from a shaky start and Kyle Schwarber hit one of Chicago’s three home runs Sunday in a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.  Schwarber, Javier Baez and Ben Zobrist dusted off their power strokes after each of them had gone a while without a home run. Schwarber launched a two-run drive and Baez and Zobrist each added a solo shot to help the Cubs take three of four in the series.  Darvish (1-3) went six innings and allowed only two hits, both in the first.
