There is still work ahead for leaders at Lakeshore Public Schools after this week’s failure of a bond proposal. Voters rejected the $21 million bond on Tuesday on a vote of 2,300 to 1,907. Lakeshore Superintendent Phil Freeman tells WSJM News the need for building improvements and new technology is still there.

“We’re going to have some difficult decisions to make as we prioritize what needs to happen as we try to continue to be innovative and offer our kids the best education they can get, but the hard work will continue and we’ll do the best we can with the resources the community has said OK to,” Freeman said.

Freeman tells us he was disappointed by the vote Tuesday, but the people have spoken. He notes the particular concern is technology replacement, telling us that will have to happen one way or another. Freeman adds the top priority always remains student safety.
