A Michigan House committee on Tuesday heard testimony on a package of bills in response to the Larry Nassar sexual misconduct scandal. Oakland County Republican Klint Kesto told Michigan News Network his legislation prohibits sexual contact under the pretext of medical treatment.

“With this situation, Larry Nassar, yes, will serve the rest of his life in prison, but we need to make sure that there is new Larrry Nassar,” Kesto said.

The Senate already approved a package of bills that would expand the statute of limitations for sex crimes and lift governmental immunity protections for public institutions. Currently, the statute of limitations on sex assault crimes is three years.
