Business Leaders for Michigan, an organization that represents the state’s 80 largest employers, has launched a new campaign to help guide Michigan’s economic development in the long term. Spokesperson Kelly Chesney tells WSJM News the Plan for a Stronger Michigan covers everything from talent development to infrastructure.

“We think there’s a lot we can do there,” Chesney said. “We’d like to see some type of a user fee implemented in our state. We’re agnostic on what type it is, whether it’s a gas tax or a mileage tracked of some sort. We think it would go along way toward taking care of the need.”

Chesney also says it’s essential the state have a workforce with the skills employers need, which is why the Plan for a Stronger Michigan includes more investment in skilled trades trading. She tells us you’ll be hearing more about the Plan for Michigan over the next year. You can find out more at StrongerMichigan.com.
