NHL – Golden Knights acquire Tomas Tatar from Red Wings
The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired forward Tomas Tatar from the Detroit Red Wings for three draft picks.  The Red Wings will receive Vegas’ 2018 first-round pick, a 2019 second-round pick that originally belonged to the New York Islanders and Vegas’ 2021 third-round pick.  The move adds offensive firepower for the surprising Knights, who are at the top of the Western Conference in their first season.  Tatar, 27, has 16 goals and 12 assists this season and is under contract through the 2020-21 season. Tatar has topped the 20-goal mark in each of the past three seasons and had 19 goals in his first full season in the league in 2013-14.

MLB – Red Sox finalize deal with Martinez
J.D. Martinez is finally a member of the Boston Red Sox. The five-year, $110 million contract that Martinez agreed to with the club a week ago was finalized on Monday, when he was introduced at a news conference at JetBlue Park. After hitting 45 home runs in 119 combined games last season for the Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks, Martinez became the most prominent position player on the free agent market.  The Red Sox took extra time with the medical evaluation, with particular attention paid to a right foot injury that Martinez suffered last year. That led to some language changes to protect the Red Sox over the life of the deal, but the 30-year-old Martinez was deemed fully healthy for 2018.

NFL – AP source: NFL seeking $2M from Jerry Jones over legal spats
A person with knowledge of the situation says the NFL is exploring options to get more than $2 million in reimbursement for legal fees from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over his threat to derail Commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract extension and his support of running back Ezekiel  Elliott’s fight to avoid a six-game suspension.  Many owners were consulted on seeking restitution, including members of the finance committee, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the matter hasn’t been addressed publicly. Some of the finance committee members are on the compensation committee that was at the center of what became a legal back-and-forth over Goodell’s deal.  The attempt at restitution is rooted in a 1997 resolution that states owners can seek repayment for legal fees if a fellow owner is responsible for getting them involved in legal action. The Cowboys declined to comment on the owners’ actions.

NFL – Police: Jets player was drunk, caused wrong-way tunnel crash
Police say New York Jets linebacker Dylan Donahue was drunk when he drove the wrong way in the Lincoln Tunnel and collided with a jitney bus, injuring four people. The crash happened around 2 a.m. Monday in Weehawken. Port Authority police say an officer saw Donahue drive his car around traffic cones and enter the tunnel. Donahue soon collided with the bus that had 15 people on board.  Four bus passengers were treated at a hospital for minor injuries. Donahue and a passenger apparently were not injured.
