There will be plenty going on in downtown St. Joseph throughout this weekend. St. Joseph Today’s Amy Zapal tells us Friday night brings the sixth annual chili tour. You can go to the St. Joseph Welcome Center and get a map for $2 and then go around town sampling all kinds of chili recipes.

“There’s 30 different stops,” Zapal said. “There will be everything from chili to brownies to hot chocolate to coffee, and all of it will be delicious. The sale of the map, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen, and we’re so very, very happy to be able to do that.”

Restaurants and downtown shops are taking part. You can vote on your favorite chili with the winners getting bragging rights for a year. The chili tour runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Then Saturday brings the 3rd Annual St. Joe Winter Beer Fest with more than a dozen regional breweries letting people sample their brews downtown. Tickets to the beer fest are limited, and Zapal says they’re nearly sold out.
