Set for this Saturday is the return of a popular winter event in Cass County. Parks Director Scott Wyman tells WSJM News they’re holding the 12th annual Discover Winter Nights at Dr. T.K. Lawless Park. Discover Winter Nights is a party held at the park featuring lighted tube sledding, star gazing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, and more.

“We’re celebrating the uniqueness of nighttime during the winter in southwest Michigan,” Wyman said.

Wyman tells us they were unable to hold any Discover Winter Nights events last year because there wasn’t enough snow. He hopes the weather this weekend will cooperate so the snow will stick around.

“A couple of warm days and direct sunshine, and it’s going to go fast,” Wyman said.

It’s $2 per person to get into Discover Winter Nights. It runs from 5 to 9 p.m. this Saturday at T.K. Lawless Park off M-60 between Vandalia and Jones. If all goes well, they’ll do the same thing each Saturday through February 10.
