Stepherson has 19 catches for 359 yards and five touchdowns. Holmes has run for 33 yards on eight carries.  No. 14 Notre Dame plays No. 16 LSU on Jan. 1 in the Citrus Bowl.  Stepherson is currently on probation as part of a plea agreement following an August 2016 arrest in nearby Fulton County for marijuana possession with four teammates. He also missed the first four games of this season, though no reason was given.

NCAA Football – Standout DB Myles Sims part of new Michigan class
Defensive back Myles Sims of Atlanta is part of the latest recruiting class at Michigan that includes players from all over the map. The Wolverines announced 16 signees Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Four are from Michigan, and there are three each from Texas and Florida. Michigan, which went on a much-publicized trip to Rome last offseason, even landed a player from Europe _ defensive lineman Julius Welschof of Germany. The 6-foot-3 Sims was a four-star prospect, according to 247.com, Rivals and ESPN. He played at Westlake High School. Michigan has signed one quarterback _ Joe Milton of Orlando, Florida. The Wolverines have Brandon Peters and Dylan McCaffrey at that position and recently added Mississippi transfer Shea Patterson.

NCAA Football – Gervin highlights Michigan State’s group of early signees
Kalon Gervin of Detroit’s Cass Tech High School signed with Michigan State on Wednesday, one of 20 players the Spartans added at the beginning of college football’s new early signing period. Gervin, a 5-foot-11 defensive back, earned AP Division 1-2 Player of the Year honors in Michigan. He was also ranked as the top senior in Michigan by ESPN.com, Rivals.com, the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News. Other top recruits who signed with Michigan State included a pair of teammates from Pickerington Central High in Ohio. Tight end Trenton Gillison and defensive back Xavier Henderson helped lead Pickerington Central to a state championship. The Spartans also landed quarterback Theo Day of Dearborn Divine Child in Michigan.

USA Gymnastics says Maroney settlement was legal
USA Gymnastics says a settlement with Olympic gold medalist McKayla Maroney, who alleged she was abused by the national team’s doctor, was legal under California law.  Maroney filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Los Angeles seeking to invalidate parts of the confidential agreement that was reached in December 2016. She argues she was forced to sign the agreement to keep the allegations of abuse by Dr. Larry Nassar secret. USA Gymnastics says in a statement that Maroney’s attorney asked for the confidential mediation process. The sanctioning body says the settlement included a "mutual non-disclosure clause and a mutual non-disparagement clause."  USA Gymnastics says it first learned about the allegations against Nassar in 2015 and reported him to the FBI. Michigan State University, which was also named in Maroney’s lawsuit, said it doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
