An Elkhart man is dead as the result of a crash in Cass County this morning. The sheriff’s department tells WSJM News 48-year-old Daniel Staley lost control on an icy patch of Mason Street at Union Road in Porter Township just before 5 a.m. and flipped over. He was thrown out of the vehicle, as he had not been wearing a seat belt. Staley was pronounced dead at the scene, and no alcohol or drugs are believed to have been involved.
