AAA of Michigan has been mighty busy this week. Spokesperson Susan Hiltz tells WSJM News a whole lot of drivers have needed roadside assistance with the first winter storms of the season.

“What we’re seeing right now is about a 64% increase in road service calls,” Hiltz said. “The majority of the customer vehicle requests that we’re seeing are towing, battery, and tire problems.”

Hiltz says a lot of those folks who needed AAA’s help could have prevented their problem in the first place with some basic vehicle maintenance. She reminds all drivers to check their tires, windshield wiper fluid, and brakes. Also always remember the winter means you need more time for travel.
