Several Michigan companies are on a trade mission to China and South Korea. Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jamie Clover-Adams, told Michigan News Network trade is important with countries like China.
“I think for the future it’s critical,” Clover-Adams said. “They currently have the number of people in their middle class equals the total number of people in the United States. I know that 96% of the world’s population lives outside the U.S. We really need to trade and have exports.”
Clover-Adams says they have the Korea Free Trade Agreement. As a result, she says tariffs are starting to come down on a lot of products.
