The Salvation Army in Niles is looking for a few volunteers for a cleanup event set for this weekend. The organization’s Lieutenant Kendra Hixenbaugh tells WSJM News they’re looking to spruce up the Salvation Army’s building on 15th Street this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We’re hoping to paint our entryway as you come down the stairs,” Hixenbaugh said. “It’s looking a little dingy. We want to pain one of our doors, as well as buffing out floors and we’ll be putting some wax down on them to make them look a little better. Also dusting and cleaning windows.”

Hixenbaugh says they want to make the facility clean and welcoming to one and all. The Niles Salvation Army offers lunches Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays each week. It also runs a food pantry. Anyone who wants to help is asked to call the Niles Salvation Army. You could also just show up on Saturday.
