The state’s average gas price is down by 6¢ a gallon from last week, standing at $2.42. Triple-A Michigan says the drop is likely to be short-lived due to low gasoline inventory and high demand in the Midwest. While we don’t have the lowest prices in the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph area, the average has fallen nearly 11¢ from a week ago to $2.39. The state’s lowest prices are in the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland area at $2.32, while Ann Arbor drivers pay the most at $2.46 a gallon. The statewide average is higher than last year at this time by 9¢, and we have the 14th most expensive gasoline in the country. According to GasBuddy, South Haven prices are at $2.29 a gallon.
