The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department has been able to recover several pieces of stolen property following an investigation which began Friday afternoon. It tells us deputies on road patrol were in the Decatur area around 1 p.m. when they noticed a travel trailer parked next to some train tracks. After some investigation, they were able to get access to the property and found several zero turn lawn mowers, a golf cart, a side by side off road ATV, a small farm tractor and mower deck, the 32-foot travel trailer and multiple steel and aluminum hauling trailers. After tracking the VIN number on the travel trailer, they found it had been reported stolen out of Indiana.

While police were still at the property, two suspects arrived pulling another zero-turn lawn mower that was confirmed stolen out of Goshen, Indiana. Police have since learned all of the items found on the property were stolen out of Indiana. Many of them are worth more than $10,000. Both suspects, a 39-year-old man from South Bend and a 40-year-old woman from Elkhart, were arrested on charges of Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property Greater than $20,000. Other charges are also likely. Police say they names of the suspects will be released later, and they ask anyone with information on the case to contact them.
